So i'm walking around in a store today, and I walk by the magazines.... and an apisto catches my eye (i was in Barnes & Nobel). So i backtrack, and there on the cover is the high finned Nijsseni! There is an article by Gary Elson called "Through A Small Window" and he talks about his experience spawning these beautiful little critters. Also, Oliver Lucanus is the author of an article in this issue titled "New Discoveries In Peru". The title is pretty telling, and Oliver tells us of the new apisto species that have been discovered in recent years (back to about 1991 i beleive). Other areas of interest for apistos and dwarfs would be in the "interesting Imports" section (again Oliver is the author). There is a quick little blurb about Apisto. sp. Miua, as well as P. sp. "Badi River", and Hemichromis sp. Simballa, which is a new kind of jewel cichlid with a golden color.
Wayne Liebel's "Cichliophiles" section has some interesting info on C. punctulata as well.

I'm usually unimpressed at the amount of info available on dwarf's in todays magazines, but i was pleasantly surprised by this issue. So I thought i'd share with you all! Definately worth the $3.95!

Rich,
WOW! 8O That's a jam-packed edition. "Definately worth the $3.95!" No kidding! I usually look to see if there is something in there besides the normal Imports section by Oliver and buy if there is. The December issue has a section on some shrimp that I recently got from a breeder in Hawaii. I bought that edition because they are on the cover and are as nice as saltwater shrimp, but can eat algae in your plant tank. I guess I am going to have to go out and get this one. If this keeps up, I might have to subscribe.

P. sp. "Badi River"

By this, I am assuming that it is a new Pelvicachromis species?! Not specifically associated with the existing species?
And a new Hemi I haven't heard of. I guess I am going to have to update the species list again

Thanks for the heads up.
Neil
