Hello all. I am new to cichlids and am going to be setting up a 55 gal tank for these little beauties. The only experience I have with cichlids of any kind are keyholes, I have a pair in my 55gal community tank and I love them, such personality! I have since taken a liking to these three cichlids: a.agassizi, a.cacautoides and microgeophagus altispinosa. Now for my question, If I provide ample rockwork(caves) and plant the tank on the heavy side, will the following stocking plan work. a.agassizi 1m/2f; a.cacautoides 1m/2f,: microgeophagus altispinosa 1m/2f? I also plan to add a school of colorful fish for the upper strata and am wondering about scavengers(cats or loaches) for the bottom. Will the addition of scavengers upset the cichlids? Any that would work? Not that important if not necessary. I am not looking to breed the cichlids but if it happens, so be it! Any comments on this plan will be greatly appreciated, I am after color and attitude in this tank and will look at alternate stocking plans if offered.
Many thanks!!
