Introducing a female to a 10 mth old male Cacatuoides

Hi guys,

Our 60*45*45 planted tank currently has 2 males in it. One was a sleeper so up until recently was fully golden yellow but over the last months has definitely matured to show male finnage and colours. We're trying to work out what to do.

Male 1 - purchased 6 months ago approx 8-10 cm in size. Built like a truck.

Male 2. Purchased at the same time and is about 5cm. Filling out.

Currently there isn't a lot of aggression between the 2 but as they get older and the 2nd one continues to grow, I'm assuming this will now change.

Any pointers on what we should do as we like having 2 apistos in the tank.

If we swap out a boy for a girl, she'll be considerably smaller, so we're concerned she'll get harassed to death.

If we keep both, it probably means both will be miserable.

The other option we were thinking was to swap both out and get a mated pair so they grow up together.

Appreciate any advice here.

Brendon
