Hi all, found two contaminants in a shipment of A. eremnopyge from Peru. Here are some initial pictures - first day settling in so quite dull and bad pics for now - will update when I manage to take some better photo's in better light.
Usually there are about 4 abdominal lines below the lateral line, but these don't show clearly here - they were however quite prominent when the fish was in dominant mode in a different set-up at the store where I got them:
(the 'female' is in the background in the first pic - everything exactly the same as the male, except no vertical stripes in the tail!!)

Are these all photos of the same fish? Some look more like eunotus-complex, others like cruzi-subcomplex, and even others like regani-complex.
Hi Mike, yes it's all exactly the same fish (but in different moods)... please let me know if you need additional pictures of a specific feature... thanks

[Btw there's no doubt it's wild caught as it arrived in the same box as a stunning batch of A. eremnopyge from a reputable supplier in Peru]

Thanks again Mike.
What confuses me is that it has a considerably smaller caudal spot [when it appears - sometimes...:):)] - than the 'Masken' specimens I've seen on several occasions before.
Also, the vertical striping in the tailfin is throughout and obvious as in A. regani and closely related species.
In the smaller individual, which I think may be a female, there are only the faintest marks in the tailfin - the rest of it is exactly the same as this individual (male) I took the pictures of.
Anyway, I'll look after them and take pictures again when they're bigger and if they change. They do seem to change ever so often in looks even from one minute to the next, which makes id tricky.

Here's a final pic - for now:

And finally, the reason why these were imported [I ordered a batch of wild A. eremnopyge (sold as sp. FRESA)] and was not disappointed - love this species and really pleased we have many again in the UK):

Happy apisto keeping to all!
