Hongsloi sex?

I have had these Apisto Hongsloi from Apistodave for about 6 months. I know I have two obvious males, one I am not sure, and one I believe may be female. They all get along and NEVER fight at all. The possible female never yellows.

Can anyone comfirm my thinking? Or are they all male?

The 100 or so HRP are temporary LOL

Hey Bill,

I think it is a subdominant male or sleeper male. I Have breed these before and as all females I find need some yellow in them, so to speak. Just my view. cheers jk

I agree with bigbird. Looks like males to me. I had one similar to those smaller ones of your that has developed full male colours now.

That yellowest one with black-edged pelvic fins on the left side looks pretty darn certain of being female to me. If you can move the two grayer ones to another tank where the dominant M+F can't intimidate them, you'll find out sooner what sex they are.

I got them almost a year ago I would guess. I believe they are all males. The yellow one is a lone female Borelli. They get along great together and no fighting or displaying at all. Maybe because there is no female to fight over. Maybe that is why they dont show very little red either.

Thanks for the great offer Dave. I think I will take you up on that.

Do you have a male Borelli to go with the nice yellow female I got from you? She is a spunky girl.

Here is a vid I took tonight. Do we still think it' a sneaker Hongsloi male? It is little more yellow but the males are pretty yellow too.

Ya Dave, thats what I am thinking. Weird they show no interest in each other.

Temp is 76*. Ph around 7.

Maybe better luck when all the HRP are gone.

Thanks....Bill
