Hi all,
I can see that there are a few people from Oz which is great. My husband and I have kept fish for a while now, mainly rainbows and cichlids, some apistos, but have become a bit more interested in them lately. Just wondering what Apistos are available in Oz, are any members breeders that sell their fish?

what is available varies a bit over time and depending on the individual shop. there are regular shipments coming in from Southeast Asia, Europe, and of course South America. they will mostly contain the 'standard' species (cacatuoides, agassizii, trifasciata, etc.) often as line-bred varieties but also 'wild' imports. there are usually also a number of 'non-standard' species available at the wholesalers which tend to get bought up by a smaller number of petshops that cater to a more specialized clientel. if your local petshop doesn't stock (m)any, you can try to ask them to get some in via the wholesalers/importers. you may have to take more than just a pair in that case to make it worth their while.
some of the specialist petshops in the larger cities also ship, so that is another option. Where are you based in Australia?
there are not too many people here who breed a larger variety of apistos, but some of them will sell privately and ship as well
