Hi-new here

Hi all,

I started keeping fish in 2008, moved into a house with a pond. Don't have the pond anymore, but that pond got me hooked. Now I've moved to bettas & planted tanks. Right now I have a planted 5 gallon with a betta and a 20 long planted community (and dreaming of starting more tanks of course). I'm looking for a small cichlid for my tank and have become hooked. I don't have any yet-still doing research & not available in stores locally so no impulse purchases. Just here reading & learning.

Welcome - there's quite a few Anabantoid keepers here as well as dwarf cichlid people. Where are you? There might be other members here or a local aquarium club that you can get locally-bred fish from.

I'm on the Jersey Shore-NJ there is an aquarium club here I've thought about joining, but I haven't yet. I would definitely prefer local fish over shipping them. I'm still deciding on if I can get away with starting a new tank for a pair of apistos, or if not what I could get (if anything) for my 20 long. I already have normans lampeye killis in there, a small group of dwarf corys & 2 platys-I keep the water medium hard for the platys.
