Hi All I just aquired thease apistos as a trade and was told they are A.gephyra. I am not so sure Been looking at aqualogs and datz. and leaning toword the pertensis or iniridae groups. What are you alls thoughts please.

The male fish is definitely NOT a gephyra... it should be A .pertensis :)

P.S: The female fish in the first photo MAY be a female gephyra/aggie....

I agree with blueblue. The male is A. pertensis. The female in the first photo is out of focus, but might be A. gephyra. I will need a clearer photo to be sure. Is the female in the second set of photos the same female? If so, it looks like you have 2 A. pertensis. Hopefully they will bond. A. pertensis females can be very choosy about their mates. Good luck with them. If they breed, I know that I would be interested in about a half dozen young.

Hi Mike, BlueBlue. Thanks On the id of the pertensis i was thinking the same but was un sure. I also believe I have both pertensis and gephyra females i am posting mor pics of them to see as to what you may think. I think i have 2 gephyra and 1 pertensis. Sorry for quality but only got an autofocus digi camera.

I agree. You have a mix of the 2 species. This is not unusual since the 2 species come from the same area. The females with a caudal spot that is separate from the laterl band are A. pertensis. The ones without a caudal spot are probably A. gephyra, but I can't be positive from the photos.
