I recently got back into aquariums. Now I have 6 going. I recently purchased my first Apistos, Apisto cacatuoides 'Orange Flash', Trio (1M2F) from a reputable dealer.

They have been in a quarantine tank with tiny baby Electric Blue Acaras.

As luck would have it, the Apistos spawned. They were free swimming before I even noticed they had spawned. Yesterday in a bit of a panic, I set up a tank with some java moss, heater, micro sponge filter etc.

I moved about half of the fry to the new tank and left half with mom and the EBAs.

It seemed like a good idea to join this forum and learn more about what I am getting into.

I’m on my 3rd generation of orange flash cockatoo. They are a lot of fun. I suggest some dither fish. I have also observed that the offspring make for better parents when left with their mother for about 6 weeks. I would remove the father instead of the fry.

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
