They do have impressive finnage! To tell you the truth these pictures were taken about 30 minutes after receiving them!!!! These came from Ragmansrams which were shipped overnight and they came out the bag looking this good.

Hopefully soon they will sort out hierarchy so I can remove the unwanted and then they should be able to have all the breeding time they need. I am also waiting for some rock caves for them.

Took some more pictures this morning after they settled in all night and looks like they wanted to get their picture taken.

I like the contrast between their light body color and their impressive coloration of their fins!!

My cacatuoides "Super Red" are breeding every 2 or 3 months......they are excellent breeders cum parents

1st batch: 17 11 06
2nd batch: 12 12 06
3rd batch: 08 01 07
4th batch: 01 02 07

These are dates when fries are free swimming....currently experimenting with having both parents together in the tank with the fries....so far all seems fine, no threat to the survival of the fries

Wow! Your are really pushing them out!

Where are you located?

I checked today and think I have a second female protecting eggs now as well! I have 5 females in the tank but think I am going to remove 2 along with the second male.

They are really a great breeding pair, they'll lay eggs within 24hrs when put together...since I've got limited space, I can only breed them about once a month if possible...

I'm located in Singapore.

It'll be great if you could have 1 male and 2 females in your breeding tank.... presence of too many will distract and threaten the survival of the fries...

Is that a dwarf puffer I see in the foreground in one of the photos? If so, you may consider removing it. Though small, they are serious fin nippers.

That's a beautiful tank!

Could you tell us more about tank size, substrate, lighting, CO2, ferts, etc. I'm working on my first planted tank, and am struggling a bit, so I'd love to hear how you maintain that beautiful set up.

I have a similar tank.. I wonder if A.agassizii would live and breed in similar conditions considering their sensitivity to chemicals?

I had no intentions of mine breeding and especially in the fashion they did!

To think I had just got these things a few weeks ago.

Thanks. Sounds pretty labor intensive. But as I said, the results are gorgeous. Does anyone have advice or experience in maintaining a lower tech planted tank? Or are the high light, CO2, and aggressive fertilization requirements for keeping things clear and looking nice?

I currently have a 45 gal flat (48" L, 18" W, 12" D) with about 2 WPG of standard flourescent light (6700K)- I thought that would be fine because the tank is so shallow. I've played around with yeast CO2 but have found that pH fluctuations are problematic. The plants look ok, but a little pale perhaps. Mostly I struggle with green water and black brush algae. I do about 25% water change once a week with 50/50 RO/Chicago tap water.
