Food for South American Dwarfs

After reading the post regarding food for West African cichlids, I need to reassess what i feed all my fish. I just wanted to know for South American dwarves what is the best food types.

Newly hatched baby brine shrimp.

Live food is definitely best but frozen is a good compromise. My cacatuoides get good quality flake as a staple, frozen brine shrimp twice a week and frozen bloodworm less often. I've tried daphnia but they don't seem interested.

It is feast for my fish in the late fall, winter, and early spring, I have lots of time for live foods. They get lots of blackworms, daphnia, bbs, earthworms and frozen foods too. In the summer when I am busy it is famine, with only flake, and the ocassional frozen food.

So live foods such as; Blackworms, Daphnia, Baby Brine Shrimp, White Worms and small earthworms are ideal live food for S.A.D.C. ?

The Live foods mailing list has lots of information on many different live foods, check them out and get on the list. It has been extremely slow the last couple years, but it still exists, and the archives are available to read through.

Some very good reading there.

Will blackworms survive at room temperature, around 20 degrees (68 F), as i am not able to keep them in a fridge at 40 - 50 F ?
