First tank

[Hercules]

So I am starting a tank with some cockatoos as focus, and this is what I am thinking so far. Tank is a 35 gallon hex.

2 Cockatoos
1 bristlnose albino pleco
2 Angelfish

I definately want it to be a colorful community tank. Do these work so far? What can I add to this tank? Also, outside of feeding, what is maintenance like? Ive seen small water changes on a weekly basis... but I have also been told monthly. Any help is greatly appreciated thank you!

Maybe add some nannostomus marginatus to the tank they keep in the upper part of the tank and are not stealing any frys. and they are very interesting too About the waterchange I think that you should change maybe 30% every two week.

Hi Hercules,
You could probably keep a harem of cacatoo's (1m 2-3f)
I would not recommend two angelfish in you setup.
- they are group fish (5 is a minimum...)
- your tank is too small for 5
- they will eat fry if the cacatoo's provide it
Further I agree that most nannostomus are ideal dither fish.

waterchanging al depends on how many fish, plants, filter etc. There is no simple answer. But a weekly change of 25% would be the simple answer
