I was wondering if anyone uses fertilizer spikes for emerged plants in their planted tanks....the kind you can buy at a Lowes or HD? OR spikes used for ponds.
If you have any knowledge or experience please share. Also, Dr Schulz ( I think this was the brand) had a "water plant soil" at one time...is it still available?

Thanks
george

Hi all,
I've made clay balls with Osmocote/VitaxQ4 or Growmore in them and pushed them into the roots of Cyperus, Echindorus etc, which are a sort of DIY option. If they are "controlled release" they should be all right, you would need to look at percentage of the nitrogen provided by ammonia, obviously the lower the better.

cheers Darrel
