Female Cacatuoides no longer yellow with fry

So I have my female with fry in a seperate 10g tank. Last night she started loosing her bright yellow color but it came back this morning. Now she has lost her bright yellow and no longer is hanging around her fry often swimming by herself. Should I remove her, does the mean she might eat her fry, is she ready to spawn again? The fry are about a week old and swimming easily by themselves and I want to keep the female with them as long as possible but not if it threatens their safety. Any help would be great.

Usually apisto females will stop guarding their fry once they are big enough to survive without being eaten by any other fish in the tank. Obviously your female has not fry predators to worry about, so she has finished guarding them. Usually females don't eat their fry just to eat them. Usually they try to drive them away when she is ready to breed again. Without a male, she isn't in a high desire to breed. Still, keep an eye on her. If she starts to attack the fry, then remove her.
