To the Forum:

Just out of press is a scientific description of Etia nguti Schliewen & Stiassny 2003, a new monotypic West-Central African cichlid genus and species from the Mamfue (or Mamfe) River, upper Cross River basin in Cameroon.

Generically, this enigmatic little cichlid is named for Dr. Ethelwynn Trewavas, known by some as "E.T." The specific name refers to the town from where the fish is known.

The authors tentitively place Etia nguti as related to a large subclade of African cichlids.

For photos, please refer to Ariel Bornstein's web site at www.blackwaterfish.com/etia.htm.

Thank you.
