i bought a pair of A. bolleri about two weeks ago and they already spawned the female has behinding for the past day or so. i got worried looked around the tank and couldn't find her so i looked in the clay pot and there she was with a lot of eggs under her. the fish are in a 10 gallon tank by them selves the pH is 6.8-7 but i have no idea about the TDS so i dont know if the eggs will hatch or not but if they do what should i do i have no were else to put the parents. will the bolleri be good parents or would they try to eat there fry.

thanks for any help
Evan

let them go. ime borellii's are good parents, but she can be rough on the male. maybe keep your eye on that. leave them together for now, for sure.

thanks for the help how long before i would see fry swimming around because i think my TDS may be too high for the eggs to hatch so i dont want to have the female gaurding eggs that will never hatch

i've had 50% hatch in 150 tds, ph 7.8 with borellii opals.

how long to see wrigglers will depend on the temp. 5 or 6 days after spawning is a reasonable estimate if memory serves correctly. start hatching bbs. feed it to the parents, so they don't go nuts for it later and eat all of the fry's food. get used to it. it'll be part of your life for the next month if all goes well.

make sure filter is suitable. what are you running now?

i'm not really set up for the apistos like i said they are in a 10 gallon and the filtration is under gravel and i'm waiting to get a hang on filter from my dad. once he sets up his fish room and figures out what tanks/filters he needs i will hopefully get some of the left overs right now i need to figure out were i can move the male because the female is coming out of the pot just to bit him when he is on the other side of the tank:frown:
