I didnt have much room but found a pair of 2nd generation incas that a LFS bought from a local breeder. 1 male I found in what was an all female tank. So I buy them, split my krib tank in half. Now I have been fighting some algae issues so the water is somewhat cloudy. I decide I am going to try and clean it alittle more than normal. I took out plants and pots to get in the gravel good.

I look at pot before i return it into water and I notice a spot of algae inside it so I wipe it down and as I spin the pot I notice a bunch of little eggs stuck to the inside of the pot. I was hoping to get these little fish to breed, and now that they did, I probably killed the first batch. grrrrr

How pissed am I right now...

:( Sorry to hear that, but if the eggs were fertile they will spawn again....just keep your hands out of the tank as I would give you a good bite if I were your fishies the second time around. :)

Well I stuck pot back in just for heck of it, and the eggs are still on wall today, and shes still guarding them. So I dont know if they still have a chance. They were still wet when I found out my mistake.. And she is bright yellow today.

Does anyone know if inca eggs should have color or if clear is ok?

well i woke up this morning, checked to see if eggs were still there, nothing...

Im alittle bummed, then I watched the female go back into the pot and shes watching the opposite side of the pot. So I turn lights off flash a flashlight in, and lo and behold wigglers...

I am so excited my mishap didnt cost me...

:) Congrats!!! Sound like a great Mom so far and so glad they didn't die while you cleaned the pot.

I just checked my apisto C tank and I have eggs. I have 3 young females in with Dad (mom died a few months ago) and thease females are about 4 months old.

So far she is protecting the eggs, but I am just going to leave the tank alone and see what happens. I will remove the next female who lays eggs (pot and eggs to) but I just didn't have a tank ready this time.

I wish I could have gotten my triple reds to breed. I had 1 young female lay a small clutch a few months ago, but they were gone in a day. Havent been back since, and lost 2 males. Now I have a pair of tris with a female ready, and an orange flash and double red female. Male all over female, hoping they dont get in each others way and I can get some eggs there also. would have to remove them though, since I got some killies in there with them
