Yea that would be difficult. On the bright side denmark is nice ! Spent a bit of time in copenhagan with a friend who lives there - he loves beer.

I have set up the tank. Now I just need to get hold of the fish.

Future stock (hopefully): a pair/trio of d. Maculatus and 10-15 n. Eques.

Here is the tank. It need glass cleanup, a bit more water and a few leaves.

More hiding places given their size - mine hide in the grass and under leaves. I have a large amount of 3 inch tall grass in my aquarium. The grass is one of the micro swords i forget which - i only purchased one tiny plant but after a few months it had spread everywhere....

It’s been planted within the last week and some of it today. So hopefully it will all grow in, in the coming months.

It seem a bit bright to me. I would add some floating plants if it were my tank. Then again, give it a few months and the Pistia in it will cover the entire surface.

Oddly i've not had much success with water lettuce in my black water aquariums. If i can get frobit to group up tight enough so it produces emersed leaves it does well but then if i thin it and the leaves get wet the melt and it takes a long time to produce the other type of leaves (i'm reluctant to call them submersed but they sit on the water). Weird.

Thanks Mike. Yeah! I hope that all the plants will “fill in the blanks” over time.
I do have a bit more pistia in another tank, i can move to this one.

The fish would appreciate a layer of leaf litter. My Dicrossus would spend most of the day flipping over leaves in search of snacks.

If one covers their tank top Pistia doesn't grow well. It doesn't like water on the surface of it leaves (cover pushes leave lower into the water) or water dripping on to the leaves. It grows best in open-top tanks.
