Curviceps and Keyholes?

Hello All,

I was wondering if the two cichlids made good tankmates. I currently have two extremely docile keyholes and would like to add a pair of curviceps to livin' things up a bit. Are these two fish compatible? Any info on curviceps would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch!:)

They seem to do pretty good together in the system at my work, and my buddy had quite a few of them mixed together in his tank for a long time. What size tank and how many of each were/are you planning on putting in?

if your tank is large enough, these two species will get along just fine. I have a pair of curviceps with two pair of keyholes and a pair of crenicichla regani and everyone gets along great

well, the tank is in transition. It is a 29 gallon. It houses 2 keyholes, 3 black tetras (soon to get rid of), 3 lemon tetras, 4 neon tetras, and 5 cory cats. I ordered 3 curviceps in an attempt to get a pair. The tank is fairly empty and I was told that I would have room for another dwarf cichlid pair. My two keyholes are male and are the rulers of the tank.

Cleithracara maroonii & Laetacara curviceps

Hello wlagory,

I kept Cleithracara maroonii and Laetacara curviceps pairs in a well-planted 55-gallon tank. Both pairs spawned fairly regularly on opposite sides of the tank with no problems. The tank was 4-feet long, however; a 29-gallon tank may be a little tight.

Good luck!

Well, my keyhole "pair" are both male so I know they will not spawn. If I do end up getting a pair of curviceps would it ruin the other fishes lives? I don't want my fish to be unhappy.

I ordered 3 curviceps, if I don't get a pair should I just keep one or should I keep two?

How many pairs did you have in your 55 gallon? Thanks for you replys.
