compatible agasizzi pairs

i am tryin to breed a pair of agasizzi . i hav a 25 litre tank , i use kent black water extract 2 up turnd clay pots with notcht rims at either end and a few vallis plants to separate them and 4 tetra dithers i feed a variety of frozen food and and raise temp from 78f to 82f giv or take few degrees every week or so and back again once no fry apear and females color has turnd bak to normal .I hav bn succesfull in eggs bn laid 3 times each time the female turning brite yello an develping a black spot an garding them for her life but to avail no wriglers or fry ever apear .... cood it be my pair are incompatible or the male to young or jus plain stupid ??

What is the pH and hardness of your water like?

I don't think raising the temperature is required. I've had Apistos spawn after conducting a large water change with cooler water. That of course is not your problem.

Some captive bred males are stoopid though

Is there any chance that you can put them in a larger aquarium? 25 liter/6.5 gallons is a bit small. It can be dangerous to non-breeding females & males in with a brooding female if they cannot get away from their mate. Make sure that the water is around pH 6.5 and < 10º dH. Of course, your male might be inexperienced or "shooting blanks". Patience, good food, & proper water conditions usually result in viable fry. I've had over 100/brood!
