Collecting Apistogramma diplotaenia and Biotoecus in the Rio negro.

Good evening guys, it has been a very long time since i last posted and a lot has changed in the last ten years or so! I am no longer breeding Apistogramma as i own and operate a fish shop here in the UK and sadly lack the time.

I have just had confirmation that i am on a collecting trip to Cameroon in 2026 and found myself on Apistogramma.com reading a thread from Ted judy, a recent Apisto thread caught my eye and i saw that Mike wise and Frank H are still active here! its so good to see this! Hello guys.

I have not long returned from a collecting trip to the Rio negro and thought id share a couple of pics of collecting both Biotoecus opercularis and Apistogramma diplotaenia on a barren looking sandbank in the vicinity of Barcelos.

pH was 4.2, conductivity 12ms and temp around 29c. The fish were caught using a seine and unfortunately night drew in before i could snorkel the habitat and use the Go pro.... Next year ill record them underwater!!!
