I guess I just had a little to much time on my hands so I tried something. I rinsed a 2 inch clay pot In ro water then placed it in an 8 ounce plastic cup with ro water. I then filled up another cup with ro water and no pot. After a day the ph of the water in the cup with the pot was 7.2 while the water in the cup with just ro had a ph of 6.8. The pot is one of the reddish clay pots that are available at most nurseries and garden centers. Has any one else noticed that these pots have a slight buffering effect?
