The same way I've lost so many species: bad luck! You think you have a decent breeding population, then Boom! something bad happens and you lose them. I was lucky with my A. cf. agassizii Madeira-Gold. I got a small batch before losing my last female. I only hope they produce some specimens of both sexes. I'm on my last pair of A. sp. Oregon. I took most of my offspring to Dallas last year, where I was a guest speaker (does anyone here have any?). I still had another batch growing well for brood stock, until I ruptured a disk in my back and couldn't take care of my fish for a month. I lost a lot of fish, some I'll have problems ever getting again.
