I have kept aquariums for years, but I have never attempted to breed microgeophagus ramirezi until now. They have spawned many times in the community tank, but of course they did not survive. This time, I took one of the pais out and, and put them into a 10Gal tank with a seasoned sponge filter and filled it with RO water. The pair laid eggs the same night and they started hatching after three days. On day 7 they are swimming around in a cloud as the parents try to keep them together.
My question is about feeding. I started a batch of brine shrimp eggs on yesterday and I am also trying New Spectrum fry formula along with decapsulated Artemia Cysts. I put a little of the New spectrum and the decapsulated Artemia Cysts in a bit of water for a few minutes, then use an eye dropper to put it into the tank with the fry and parents. I don't want to over feed. Are there any snails or cory cats that I can put in the tank to help keep it clean? Today they fry are all over the place and I don't want to suck any out when I try to do a water change.
