ok cheers guys, never kept Borelli before, at what point does the yellow\blue coloration kick in??

its hard to tell as the photo colour is washed out by the low tank light\tannins\camera with poor macro function... there is no yellow at all in the face which is what threw me in the ID - the fish is about 1" nose to caudal peduncle...

cheers
Craig

They will not have much color until they are 1.75-2". Even then the color will come in over time.

There are also quite a few different color forms for A. borellii. Not all of them have that bright yellow coloration. Here is a shot of a young adult I had. I believe this is the "Paraguay" form.
