Hi all-
Just got a few A. bitaeniata that my lfs special-ordered for me (they get their fish from The Cichlid Exchange), and wanted some confirmation of the basis on which I've sexed them. I asked for a trio, figuring at 1.25" the supplier wouldn't guarantee sex, but for some reason they only sent a pair, which they called "a pair". Got them home and they colored up, and they're definitely young, but both fish are showing some metallic blue on the gill covers, and distinct patterning on the caudal fin. Am I correct that these two markers suggest that both fish are male? I can take pics if you want, but they're kind of still hiding in the back and hard to get a good shot of.
Thanks,
Brian
