Well after the false start at Christmas with these guys and the fry only lasting 24 hours, a change of tanks and some hard work and here we are :) (not to mention the envy of a couple of other people reporting sucess with fish from the same batch I originally imported)

The tank is set up with a lot of leaf litter, the pair of Biotoecus, a couple of pencils and a couple of zebra oto's. They fry started taking bbs immediately and now feast on microworm, bbs and cyclops each day.

Female (the fry are hovering over the leaf)

Thanks Scott, fry do look a bit strange with the extra big eyes!!

After all the reading I was suprised that they took bbs on the first day of free swimming (and I know Mark 'Microman' is as well), but there coming on well. Both parents are good with the broodcare, herding all the fry together (at the front of the tank for easy viewing, wish some of the apistos were this obliging) and chasing the odd pencil fish that strays down to that area.

Great!! we are proud of you!! Biotoecus operacularis is known to be difficult in breeding and it is uneasy to raise the fry, you have a great achievement!! ^_^
