I had posted some pictures of a a female and her clutch of fry. The photos of the male were kind of poor and it has been quite a challenge tricking him into standing still.
Mike the fish in question came from Ryan. The male and female were in the same shipment of 100 or so fish. I agree that Pebas/Putumayo is the correct fish. I am leaning heavily towards Putumayo. The pictures of the male show very little of the blue in the lower body.
It is much more likely to be A. sp. Pebas. A. sp. Putumayo has a single distinct caudal spot. Your male (and particularly the female) shows an elongated caudal spot made from the normal caudal spot and part of Bar 7. I rarely use color for identification. Many apistos are very polychromatic. You male, for instance, has many color characteristics of A. sp. Papagei/Parrot.
