Hello,
I’m looking at setting up a 5X2X2 tank and would like some advice on Biotype Stocking for Apistogramma’s. Due to the difficulty (for me, at least) of setting up a true Biotype Tank I am aiming to keep exact region rather wide spread, where needed.
As the tank is going to be heavily planted with plenty of rockwork and driftwood I am after 2 small colonies of different Apistos and a few other fish... (To act as dither fish, pest control, cleaners, ect… wherever I can get them)
So first off, I’m wondering if there are 2 Species of Apistos that can happily live together, water condition and temperament wise that ALSO come from the same or a very close geographic region.
Next, what fish, also from around these regions would you recommend to be kept with them? Obviously I’m after things that will need to be, friendly to plants, very peaceful, (I’d like the Apisots to remain the dominate fish (and not be attacked, or stressed)) happy in the same conditions and bonus point for those that swim in different areas (heights) of the tank and fill the aforementioned roles, if that is possible.
Lastly are there any other recommendations or suggestion, about tank stocking or design, you can make, plant selections, tannins, ect. Stocking numbers or things to avoid?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
