Apistogramma trifasciata hiding in the sand

Two days ago i bought 4 Apistogramma trifasciata, when catching the fish one of the female Apistogramma trifasciata burrowed itself down the sand.

I have never seen a Apistogramma do this before, is this someting Apistogramma does or was it just a fluke?

Probably more of a fluke (... any port in a storm).

I saw a panduro did this at the store. After some frantic attempt to catch a couple of fish by the store owner, I saw a panduro on its side with most of its body under the sand. At first I thought it was crushed to dead and pushed under the sand (how horrible). But the fish was alive and eventually swam away.
