A. sp. Kelleri doesn't occur in Peru, especially the Río Huallaga (Marañon system). I'm not sure if someone gave you the wrong collecting locality or some other species. Like Mark says, they might be Kelleri, but none of the photos show adequate features to say for certain.

The male fish does look like Kelleri while you'd better post clearer photos for us to read and comment.

Francisco's fish are from the Rio Jutai (Brazil). They probably are the same species as A. sp. Kelleri, but until we are certain, I have listed then in my data base as A. cf. sp. Kelleri (Jutai)

The more I look at A. sp. Kelleri's pictures, the more I feel it is the same as mouthbrooder (barlowi)... especially the female fish...

Hi Blueblue,

I would say it is almost the same fish, but it has some differences:
- male has red markings on gills (not all of them!)
- female has no brestband at all
- female gets two tipped caudal fin even at younger age

I think the absence of the brestband is important enough to say it is a separate species. If I look at other species complexes the differences between species are even smaller.
