The true A. juruensis comes from western Brazil, not Peru. Your fish is a member of the cruzi-(sub)complex - A. sp. Putumayo (A 85) - that comes from the Río Putumayo & Río Ampiyacu of Peru.

Thanks Mike.

The fish-pusher that sold me this pair, imported too many "special" species, and Denmark is a small aquarium cuntry, so he went bankrupt shortly after I bought them -wery saad.

I have never seen them before or since that one time, and I wonder if it is worth investing time in breeding them. I have got the room/tanks but time must bee taken from my breeding projects.

A. sp. Putumayo is the most common fish sold commerially as "A. cruzi". It is not the true A. cruzi, but probably represents one of the paratype populations used by Kullander in his description of A. cruzi.
