I noticed a species listed as Apistogramma 'papagalo' on a UK supplier's list. The picture looks like it could be A. cf. eunotus. Does anyone know what species A. 'papagalo' is?
It doesn't look like A. sp. papagei, nor putumayo nor pebas..

No problem Dan....The people at the suppliers have been told what they are.
The A.barlowi"Rojo" are worth getting, if indeed thats what they are.
Havnt seen each other for a while Dan.... Will have to catch up when you are in the area.

It'll be great to see you Mark...
Btw, I reckon it would be an excellent idea if the UK suppliers/importers in general could contact you the moment they get new imports in, as you'll be able to separate the 'contaminants' and also label all the apisto's accurately!! I personally would find this very useful. It's especially the variety and identification challenge in this genus that make it so appealing to so many enthusiasts. Anyway, will hopefully have a good cichlid chat soon.

Hi Dan,

I also know where you mean, i only live 10 mins away and I’ve previously asked and sent pictures to Mark on the 'Papagolo' and he confirmed as best he could from the photos that they are A.cf.eunotus however be aware they've also now put a mix of other apistos in the same tank so picking out a pair is not easy, I’ve steered clear of this tank.

As for the A.barlowi"Rojo" they are the red morph of Barlowi and are certainly worth getting. I had a pair off Mark when he returned from Peru last year and then I saw these and had another pair, now they've been conditioned and grown they look identical to the pair I had off Mark.

Also worth a look in the same shop is the A.Sp.Diamond as these are A.eremnopyge, and are stunning once settled. My pair have just spawned fingers crossed for some fry in the next few days.

Regards Mike

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
