Hello All! I've been reading the forum for a while but finally signed up :)

I have a trio of Apitogramma Cacatuoides (Double Orange I believe - attached photo) - in 17 gallon heavily planted tank with Otto's as the only tank mates. Both females recently have gotten free-swimming fry , though all were eaten. On the latest batch i've remove one of the females and debating if should remove the male / the mother as i'd like to see these fry survive :)

Glad to say hi, and any tips would be much appreciated!

cheers!

Good looking fish. I generally remove the fry using a siphon once they get to size. Beware, female will kill male when holding onto fry, especially in such a sized tank. Its always a risk to consider! Especially in cacatuoides ;). Lost my male to a female in early April... that was my first Apisto. Luckily, I raised a batch of 15 fry from the spawn she was guarding, so I easily mended the issue.

Thanks Shane! I've removed the male to my community tank with the other female - he had looked subdued of late. So it's the mother and her fry left in the tank now :) (see photo :)

Re-designing and starting a new fish room all over again. This time we'll have many more Apistsogramma species. We are expanding.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
