Many wild specimens of these have been available and I plan to buy a group of six or more. I haven't kept these before. I have done well with wild Blue form A. agassizi. Does anyone think I should know anything about their care and breeding that may be different from other wild A. agassizi?

I have wanted some of these ever since seeing a photo of them for the first time.

My experience indicates that wild A. sp. "Tefe" is best kept in soft, slightly acid water, as A. agassizii.
But to successfully breed, they seem to require a lower pH than A. agassizii; mine didn't breed unless the pH was around 5,5 or lower.

It is best to see the fish before buying. Various "Net" forms of A. agassizii are still being sold as A. sp. Tefé. The true Tefé shows continuous wavey bands on the flanks - not just dark edged borders on scales.
