Could anyone help me please i have a 350L tank with congos tetra, rasbora, GBR and my apistogramma cacatuoides. This will be their 3 lot of fry and none ever make. I have had some fry hatch today approx 20 and would like to save some. I have one other tank 60L with cherry shrimp in can a suck up the 20 or so fry and try raise them in the shrimp tank or should i move the mother as well?
I assume my congos hunt down the fry and want to try save some that water stats are the same in both tanks

Sorry but here I go again: a community tank is not a breeding tank ... a community tank is not a breeding tank ... You could remove the fry from their mother, but they usually do not feed/grow well without their mother. If you truly want to breed your apistos, I strongly suggest a separate breeding tank.

I never wanted to breed them nor did i mention wanting to. I just felt it a shame for the new fry to end up as breakfast again and asking advise. I do have a spare 70L ready in a month that maybe i should move the apistos to that

Hi all,
I have one other tank 60L with cherry shrimp in can a suck up the 20 or so fry and try raise them in the shrimp tank or should i move the mother as well?
The fry will be fine in the tank with the cherry shrimp, particularly if it has a lot of Java moss in it.
The fry always do better when they are kept with the female, but she is very likely to eat the shrimps.

cheers Darrel
