Hi

I just got 2 pairs of wild Apistogramma alacrina red spot Rio Meta

Has anybody bred these before??

Looking for water conditions??

I'm pretty sure that your fish are A. sp. Rotpunk/Red-dot and I doubt that they come from the Rio Meta, much more likely from the Rio Caquetá system. It is a relatively easy fish to reproduce in neutral and even moderately hard water. It's a nice species; enjoy them!

They came from a local importer ,with other fishes from Colombia

He does import some rare and hard to get fishes

How can tell the different between the two Apisto

As far as I know, the true A. alacrina has never been imported commercially. Some of the type material was collected about 20 years ago by hobbyists, but nothing since. I understand that the area is a hotbed of FARC guerrillas and cocaine cartels. Anyone else is not welcome.
