ok that sounds good (not the discus you lost part) but im glad i can go with a topless apisto tank- that makes lighting a easier option thanks for the replies and if anyone has lost some to a tank that was topless please tell me soon as i dont want to loose any fish
I have lost apistos to jumping, too. This probably occurs when they are being chased by other apistos or frightened by sudden movements outside of the tank. It is not as common as with killifish, but it does happen.
Aside from being chased, they can also get jumpy when the lights turn on or off. If you can cover all the edges with a strip of glass 2" wide that should reduce the risk of jumping.
