What a beautiful name (but it is a new name to me, too)!! ^.^
Do you have any photos? I'd love to take a look at it ^_^

Just got them yesterday. Will try to take some photos. However I do not know how to attach the photos into the thread. Some advice would be appreciated. :)

Lets see. "Pretty fin" in Latin is "ornatipinnis". It is a name that 30 years ago was used first for A. steindachneri and then for A. macmasteri. Take a look at pictures of these 2 species & see if it could be one of these.

I've kept it before.
Unfortunately I don't have pictures of it.

It was like Ap. sp Breitbinden in terms of dorsal and cordal finnage.
It did not have a deep body like sp. Breitbinden.
Somehow I felt it was a cross between sp Breibinden and something else..

Yours are similar to mine?
I was told that mine was imported from Germany.

The pictures are not the greatest, but from what I see, they look like a geographic form of A. sp. Breitbinden/Broad-banded that originally was discussed in the German hobby as A. sp. Windisch. It is supposed to come from the upper Rio Negro around São Gabriel, Brazil. Breitbinden is found over a good part of the upper Negro (Brazil) & upper Orinoco (Venezuela & Colombia). It is represented by several geographic varieties that may or may not be separate species.

Thanks Mike. I have a good DSLR camera, but I suppose I need a better lens and skill. :)

Thanks for the piece of information, I just couldn't find any info on the internet using "pretty fin". In any case, I will try to take some better pictures and repost for verification.

Besides, I have just acquired a pair of apisto mouthbrooder today. Think I'm getting very much addicted in apisto-keeping now. :)

Hi,

I already saw some different coloured forms of A. sp. Breitbinden and one of them looks quite similar to yours, as far as I can see on these dark pictures ;)
I'm pretty sure, that yours are A. sp. Breitbinden.

regards,
Rolo
