Hi all I have a Apisto betiniata pair and Apisto panduro pair... But the male is always so fierce towards the female... What's the possible reason... Should I get more female for the male to choose???

The female starts the breeding ritual. If she is not ready to breed, the male will try to drive her out of his territory. He hopes that another female will come into his territory and breed with him. If your aquarium is large enough, extra females would be good.

I'm having the same issue with my macmasteri... 1 male and a female, the male keeps chasing the female if he sees her. should I put the female in a seperate tank? otherwise she just can't come out of her hideout I don't think she'll survive long enough like this.

thanks.

Guys, what size tanks are you keeping your apisto pairs in?

You could try making the tank layout a lot more complex and dense. I know it may mean you do not see your apistos as often as you would like, but it might give your females enough hiding places to survive. And if they spawn successfully, it may give your males enough hiding spots later on.

Not enough info. Your female seems to be ready but could it be possible that they have spawned and you did not see it? Those bright yellow colors mean something is up....but then she would disappear for spells in guarding her nest. I have found that often males are rejected until she brings out the fry. My inca 50 male was always rejected til fry showed up. Never had a problem with him being mean...was a 10 gallon tank with a coconut half and lots of guppy grass floating around.
