Apisto. eremnopyge

Hi

I just got some Apisto eremnopyge and was wondering, if any body have breed them yet,if so, what was the hardness and ph

Don`t know if there a blackwater fish or not

When they spawned for me, the water was around 50ppm TDS and a pH of about 6.5. I remember them being sensitive to water quaility. The ones i had were also the most skittish apistos I have ever seen. Good luck.

Hi George,

i breed them in very soft (sorry, don't know the tds, but GH* is 3.0, KH** is 0.0) water with a pH of 5.0 to 5.5. Sometimes we lower the ph down to 4.5 but after one week the tank pushes it up to 5.0. Water ist black, peat-filtered.

There are 9 Hyphessobrycon cf. troemneri as dithers.

I did not have any dithers with them. They where housed in a ten gallon with some clumps of java moss and some clay pots. From what i have heard, the lower pH like Marc's are prefered but since mine spawned readily with the pH around 6.5, I never bothered lowering the pH.
