My local dealer has these in stock. I tried looking them up in romers cichlid atlas but couldn't find them. Do they have another name? Any info appreciated (ph hardness etc...)

Thanks, Al

ok, just found all the info I need at the krib. Beautiful fish, but $35 a pair is a bit pricey though

Hi have some that I got from Neil. You might see if he has any more. They are apparently tricky to spawn. I have had no success yet either.

I have a book with information on Apistogramma sp. "Breitbinden".
'South American Dwarf Cichlids' by Hans J. Mayland and Dieter Bork. It has some very detailed info on spawning and maintenance.
Also, I have had no problems with these spawning in my tank. My pH is very low (below 6.2) and the water is extremely soft. My understanding is that they prefer pH of 5.5 to 6.5 for breeding. Also, according to the apisto expert at my LFS the temperature controls how many males to females you get. I keep my temp at 82F which should give me more males than females.

Hi Al,

in my Römer there is an Ap. sp. "Breitbinden" ???
But another name für this species, used e.g. by Linke/Staeck, is A. sp. "Caño Morrocoy"

greetings,
Rolo

Hi Al,
It is on page 834 and it is known it Dr Romer's book as "sp. Broad band"

very nice fish and very rare in Singapore. Only seen them twice here.

Good luck.
