Any pics of an Agassizii Blue Tail?

I bought a Blue Tail from a reputable dealer (not naming names), the bag it came in was labeled Blue Tail but in fact it looks like a Double Red Agassizii, it has no blue whatsoever on him. Is this normal for a Blue Tail?

After I had the Blue Tail ordered the tank I was planning on putting them had a misfortunate mishap so I was scrambling to find a new tank and get that setup and etc. etc. etc. that when they came in I didn't give them a very thorough inspection and this is my first venture into Apistos.

So, anyone have any pics of a confirmed Blue Tail and are Blue Tails suppose to NOT have any Blue on them?

I have never seen a blue tail that had a red tail. It should look something like a "tefe" someone must have made a mistake.

Tank raised.

It has the tail markings of the top picture but it's all red.

The red can be caused by feeding color foods. Maybe this is what happened to your fish. Blue Agassizii is what most of the wild forms were called. They had a dark outer margin, a white submarginal band and the interior was pale blue.

I believe I got a blue tail from the same source. The heart of the tail is indeed red, but there is alot of patterning that isn't normally seen in the red/double red varieties. The male that I was sent has both blue and black on the tail in a rather ornate pattern that unfortunately is not symetrical. Just be happy you didn't get the blacktails as well. They costed more and have an even simpler predominantly red tail pattern. I must say that the body color on both morphs is quite phenomenal though...

Unfortunately, I do not have a photo of the wild blue form of Apistogramma agassizi of my own but I did find this image using Google Image search.

I bought some wild Blue Morphs from an assorted Apisto shipment and spawned and eventually raised 80 fry to adults. 100% of these F1 were identical to their parents. They really aren't like Tefe' or any of the TR forms mostly coming out of the Czech Republic.
This is unfortunate as the wild Blue A. agassizi is one of the most beautiful forms of this species, imo. At most, the wild blue males have a very fine red edge along the distal edge of the dorsal fin. The dorsal fin is not blue like the other fins and body.
It is unfortunate that wild blue A. agassizi are not being imported regularly as TR forms have come to dominate the market.
