Are these a more aggressive or more passive species and cooler or warmer waters ? My limited research suggest they would want 80ish temp based on the river water temp; but tom's website has 78 in one location and 75 in another. Nothing on aggression; he mentioned it similar to cockatoo and nijjensi both which can be aggressive/territorial but not sure if this is physical similar or behavioral similar. I have 3 pairs of wc arriving and they will go into a 100 gallon established aquarium with some hatchet fishes. Anyway just i guess i can tweak things before they arrive if they turn out to be hyper aggressive though once in the aquarium it will be hard to catch them since it has a huge amount of overlapping hardscape.

The original find location is described with 24°C, pH 5.9, KH 2° and EC 10µS/cm (Yes, KH cannot fit numerically, so ignore that). The measurements were taken in the morning during dry season, so I would assume higher temps by afternoon and lower temp during rainy season.

Behaviorwise, yesm consider them somewhere between A. cacatuoides and A. nijsseni. Temperaturewise 77-79°F/25-26°C is about right when Tom and I collected the species in the Rio Tamshiyacu area in jungle streams.

These were really beautiful fish.

I planned to bring some home but they died at the export station the night before we were packed up our fish for the flight home. Sadly, I understand that this area has been clear cut and replaced by an oil palm plantation, so I don't know if the population has survived.

Some pictures - look a little different than yours:

None of your or tom's picture shows the wavy lateral line; but they are described in your description of the species-group.

Don't worry it's A. norberti. Like the display of all black markings, that of the zigzag abdominal stripes too, depends on the mood of the fish.

They were very stressed from shipping; i hope they develop the colours Mike picture showed.

The norberti I collected lost the red color of the mouth over time.
The one male i saw today seemed colour up but was mostly blue - not much in the way of red. Pretty young - maybe 1 to 1.25 inch and the water is pretty dark though he was not shy to the pin point flashlight i used which allowed me to observe him. The female i saw was typical female and the other 4 are hiding who knows where. This tank is structured that i frequently don't see a fish for a month if they don't want to be seen.

Hi,

just in case you happen to live in Germany (or Netherlands): I have a wildcaught female A. psammophila, you could have it for free. I have no use for it anymore.
