About A.Diplotaenia

I read the book of Dwarf cichlid (DATZ) and in the book said that apistogramma diplotaenia has 2 variety from difference "orinoco" and "rio negro".
I wonder what the key to classify both of them?It's very similar.
Finally I need to show my A.Diplotaenia family. I success to breeding them 2 batches and they continue mating and spawn. the fry grow up very fast now they are about 3 month.

Your fish are the type form found from the middle Río Orinoco system to the lower Rio Negro. A. cf. diplotaenia, found in the Río Atabapo, shows narrow abdominal bars below the lateral band when stressed or showing high aggression.

Thank I have a little knowledge about identification diplotaenia. Can you help me by posting some picture that classify all of diplotaenia species?

There are only 2 different forms presently known, although I have photos of several color morphs/populations of the type A. diplotaenia. I never post photos on the web that belong to other people so I can't help you there. Since you have the DATZ book, look at page 63. It shows the differences quite clearly in the markings below the lateral band. In addition, the cheek stripe and shape of the caudal fin are also different in both species. Mimbon Aquarium once had a photo of A. cf. diplotaenia in fright pattern that shows the abdominal markings even more distinctly.
