I put alot of patience into this pair because I like the pair so much. After fiddling with water quality, temp, and light cycle I have been rewarded with a big group of free swimmers. Mom took them for thier maiden swim on tuesday of this week. These pictures were taken at 5:00 today.

Hope everyone enjoys. By the way I never get response on breeding threads.

congratulations, well done. The pictures look great and the whole team swimming together even better. I presume there are no other apistos or fish in this tank and that it is a pure breeding set up ?

Have a good day
cheers jan-kurt

You are correct to assume that it is a breeding setup. The male is still with his female and off spring. If this pair was not so pretty they would have been down the road six months ago. I am glad I gave them a chance. I currently have 16 tanks dedicated to apistogramma pairs. Thank you for the comment

I am trying. Right now out of the 19 or so pairs I have the only two that have not reproduced are still too young. I really enjoy seeing the family aspect that these fish display. I have less problems getting the wild pairs to spawn than wild fish and that strikes me as strange. Bev N is doing a admirable job of breeding also. I have seen her room and fish. Its impressive. Dale is getting things set up really fast.

Yes Larry he is getting very good at it. There are youngins in just about every tank of pairs he has. After visiting his fishroom I returned home to give long lectures to my pairs...bunch of freeloaders!

He has one super fish room and some really impressive fish. I like his set up for this breeding tanks so much I copied it exactly. Happy fish are productive fish!!

How about some pictures of those fish rooms. Other than myself, I don't know anyone else here in south carolina that keeps a fish room and be able to exchange ideas and tricks.
