at the second day the female stops relating to the spawning cave/pot and acts the events of the last 2 days never happened. I realize that I may be applying human qualities to my fish but I am trying to understand what is happening during the spawning and brooding process. The female almost never leaves the pot after spawning but seems to lose interest after the 2nd day. I should note that I have never observed eggs because both pots that I placed have limited opportunities to actually see inside the pot. I have had these fish for just about a month now and look forward to actually seeing some fry. Anybody have any ideas what could be causing this issue. This morning the female is acting like a little hussy again, flirting and flashing, and trying to get the males attention, maybe the male is sterile? Thanks folks, Dave

Something happened that caused your female A. macmasteri to eat her eggs. There are many possibilities, but a sterile male is not the most likely. Give your pair several more chances before giving up. Are they in with other fish in the tank with them?
