a. trifasciatum

hey there!
I was readi in an Icelnadic book about fishes and came across this cichlid and was hopin that some one can tell me more about them.

apistogramma trifasciatum. extreamly rear tank fish males grow up to 3" females about 2". I was wonderin if this fish is an danger species or not. how many females for 1 male, tank set up and ect.

i'm not sure about iceland but a. trifasciata is very common in the hobby in the US. they are relatively easy to care for and in my experience not to aggressive(for a cichlid of course). if you are interested in apistogrammas uwe romer's cichlid atlas is the most up to date book in english. if you read german i believe there are other great books someone else could probably tell you the titles.

hey Naggur, I keep my A. trifasciata in a ratio of 1 male to 2 females. I keep them in a 20 gallon long with lots of plant covering a great big bag of peat moss to lower pH, etc. I have been keeping my pH at around 6.2 doing a 10% water change every 2 days or so, and the A. trifasciata have not stopped spawning in the last month. Also, if you can get them, I highly recommend feeding your fish live blackworms.
