You should teach them cleaning the window glass, before you make photos! *g*

Hmmm, it's interesting to me why they are called "Cleaner". :)
That is based on an obvervation of Ingo Koslowski. His fishes show a cleanig behaviour. It is described and even shown in pictures in his book.
But I don't know anybody else, who have seen this behaviour yet.

Maybe Ingos fishes were another local form or species as what we call "Putzer" now. Obviously his fishes were coloured different as all Putzer, I've ever seen, but they conform in black markings and habitus.

regards,
Rolo

1. haha.. i am a bit lazy in not cleaning the tank for them :)

2. Right, but this feature is reported to appear in many apistos,
not just this species...

Maybe you feed them too well & they do not need to practice cleaning other fish of parasites, or maybe there are no parasites to clean (I hope)!

:) yes, i am too kind to them. (By the way, this species is actually quite
aggressive towards its tankmates...)

Dr. Römer told me that he had seen it in other species. I imagine that it might be a useful trait - especially for blackwater species where food is not very plentiful. Fry eating is another trait more commonly seen in blackwater species (not just apistos).
