A. ortegai variety?

Hello, Great forum. Long time lurker.

I'm trying to get a definitive ID for my ortegai. I see many pictures with bright red markings. However, this variety is tan brown with a very sky blue tone.

This is A. cf. ortegai (Pebas). The caudal fin spot pattern in the male and wedge-shaped caudal spot on the female are not seen in A. ortegai.

Thanks very much. Would you say that the lack of bright red markings (like in many other pictures) is a natural form? Or would this have been selectively bred for this?

There are several different color variations found in A. cf. ortegai (Pebas): Morado (very blue), Dolly (mostly yellow), Naronha (blue-green/yellow), etc. Your fish is what was previously sold as A. sp. Pebas, NOT the more colorful A. sp. Papagei.
